GM crops get green light ! Genetically Edited foods could be on shelves within 3 to 4 years

The UK Government has today announced they are looking at changing legislation in favour of Genetic Editing technology after extensive research and receiving support from academic institutions and public bodies

The government said “if a genetic change can occur naturally, it will not be called genetically modified, but genetically edited'“

Genetically edited products would then not need to meet GM regulations and could go on general sale

Argentina and Japan are already developing tomatoes that have high levels of compounds they claim reduces blood pressure

England is already set to trial genetically edited wheat which will contain less cancer causing acrylamide

The greatest benefit to the worlds food supply is that gene editing has the potential to make crops more resistant to pests, diseases and the environmental stresses caused by global climate change (drought, flooding, chilling, salinity)

AGRISCIENTIFIC are currently patenting genetic markers on 23 crops and the IP will be available during 2024
